The latest installment of Northeastern-Edenton football was what we thought it would be: intensity personified and uncertain who would win until the final whistle.
NHS left Chowan County with a 36-35 victory, but if there’s a moral victory, then the Aces got it with perhaps their best effort of the season. Many Edenton fans admitted to me that they expected the Eagles to win by at least 20, which I never believed because of the recent history of these programs.
Based on last Friday’s play, the Aces (4-5, 2-2 Northeastern Coastal Conference) should have tons of confidence heading into the First Flight and Bertie games.
Now the NCC race shifts to Northeastern-Hertford County, at least after the Eagles (6-2, 3-0) go to Pasquotank on Thursday for a Time Warner Cable SportsChannel (channel No. 343).
