Girls soccer, 4th round, 2A playoffs: Currituck at First Flight

KILL DEVIL HILLS — The Currituck girls soccer team had chances to strike first, but it was again First Flight who took advantage of opportunities en route to a 3-1 win Friday.

That put the Lady Nighthawks — again a talented bunch and who only boast one senior — in the 2A East Regional Final on Tuesday at either Carrboro or Clinton.

First Flight handed the Lady Knights (19-3-1) all of their losses this spring during the program’s best-ever season by way of the fourth round postseason appearance.

Currituck’s Sydnie Phillips completed her strong prep career with 110 goals, and nearly half of them (48) came as a senior. She had the Lady Knights’ lone score Friday.
