Chesson Classic Final | Johnson & Wales-Charlotte at Mid-Atlantic Christian women’s basketball

The Mid-Atlantic Christian women’s basketball team fell to Johnson & Wales-Charlotte 82-55 on Saturday in the championship game of the Chesson Classic at MACU.

MACU completed its season with an 11-14 record.

In the bonus: Mid-Atlantic Christian at Elizabeth City State men’s basketball

Hopefully everyone had a good Thanksgiving holiday.

Below are highlights from the first half between Mid-Atlantic Christian and Elizabeth City State on Tuesday.

ECSU knocked off MACU 96-55. The Vikings improved to 2-2 on the season, while the Mustangs fell to 0-7.

Moment of silence

Before tip-off, a moment of silence was held for former ECSU assistant softball coach William White.

White was a coach on the two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball championship teams in 2002 and 2005. Before he retired from ECSU, White served as a campus police officer.

Football seniors recognized

At halftime of the basketball game, a handful of seniors who were on campus were recognized by the university.

Players Lovie Banks-Rose, Darren Wilson, Maliek Wright, Ronald Gray and Kevrette Brown received plaques from ECSU athletic director Derrick Johnson.

Coach speak: Grambling at Mid-Atlantic Christian men’s basketball

Grambling State defeated Mid-Atlantic Christian 85-26 on November 14, 2015. Former Elizabeth City State men’s basketball coach Shawn Walker talks about his return to ECSU as the Grambling coach, coaching in the Vaughan Center and a closer than expected first 10 minutes against Mid-Atlantic Christian University.

Grambling lead 16-7 over MACU.

MACU men’s coach Allan Harris talks about the Mustangs’ improvement over the first four games of the 2015-2016 season. Grambling improved to 1-1 overall, while MACU dropped to 0-4 overall.
